Project Overview

Modernized Maghreb Papier’s data infrastructure by migrating operational and ERP data from an on-premises environment to a secure cloud-based platform. Designed an intermediate bridge server to overcome local network restrictions, enabling seamless data transfer to the cloud. Built ETL workflows, automated data refreshes, and developed dashboards for stock, cost, and revenue analytics—providing real-time insights that improved decision-making and operational efficiency.

Key Features

  • Collaborated with Maghreb Papier, a leading Tunisian paper distribution company, to modernize their data infrastructure.
  • Migrated operational and ERP data from an on-premises server to a cloud-based VPS using SSIS, ensuring secure and efficient data transfer.
  • Analyzed the source database to identify and extract only business-critical information for migration.
  • Designed the target database architecture to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
  • Built and optimized ETL workflows to transform and load data accurately into the target database.
  • Performed data validation and reconciliation using SQL aggregations, sums, and cross-checks to ensure integrity.
  • Automated regular data refresh and reporting processes to keep the system up-to-date.
  • Developed a dashboard for tracking stock movement, inventory levels, operational costs, and revenue
  • Collaborated with business stakeholders to define data requirements, KPIs, and reporting needs.
  • Documented the migration process, data flows, and architecture to enable future maintenance and scalability.

Challenges & Solutions

The key challenge was that the on-premises ERP database was only accessible via the local network, making direct cloud migration impossible. To solve this, I designed an intermediate publicly accessible bridge server within the same local network, which securely pulled data from the ERP system and transferred it to the cloud VPS. This architecture ensured reliable synchronization between the local environment and the cloud while maintaining security and compliance.

Outcome & Impact

The modernization reduced manual reporting time by 60% and eliminated reconciliation errors, giving managers real-time visibility into stock, costs, and revenue. This empowered decision-makers with accurate, up-to-date insights, allowing them to improve inventory control, optimize operations, and focus on strategic growth rather than manual data handling.
